A Brief History Of MNB Precision

Established in a Midlands garage, MNB Precision begin life way back in 1980. Starting out as a small family enterprise, we initially focused on general engineering work with nothing but a couple of machines in a council house garage. Early success meant we quickly grew, and this allowed us to grow into larger facilities in Coventry and we started to take on significant work throughout the whole of the UK. Realising the need to stick to our core principals of general engineering, we also appreciated the importance of diversifying into other industries such as the oil and gas markets.
From here we decided to invest in more and more machinery that could deal with the demands of the gas and oil industries. Riding on the strength of these industries, what followed was a period of sustained success. Even during the economic downturn at the beginning of the 2010s, the strength of the oil and gas industries allowed us to continue organic levels of growth year on year. By this point we were specialising in manufacturing high-quality, high-value metal products from exotic materials.
However, by 2014 we were still based in our existing 17,000 square foot manufacturing facility. The logistics of producing products up to 11 meters in length were quickly becoming a challenge. Between December 2014 and March 2015, we took the decision to move to our current premises, a world-class 35,000 square foot manufacturing facility with all our capabilities under one roof. This includes a purpose-built inspection area, state of the art offices, a reception area and boardroom.
However, the importance of innovation and efficiency once again came to the fore during the oil and gas industry crash and the oil price drop. Austerity measures were introduced, and we used the time to consolidate and innovate. This included ensuring a diverse portfolio of clients and orders across a wide range of sectors. This can stretch as far as the automation and defense industries, as well as taking advantage of medical and nuclear industries. Our servitisation program means we take on a range of components and are always working with our designers to come up with better solutions, be more cost effective and more efficient. What makes us so adaptable is that ninety per cent of what comes through the door has never been manufactured before. Our ability to add value allows us to grow in diverse markets.
2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic has thrown up a new list of problems. However, our ability to adapt and innovate means we are able to tackle any new problems head on. We offer a range of in-house capabilities that includes CNC Turning, CNC Milling, Shot Peening, Spark Erosion and Wire Erosion.
